The January / February Blah Blah Blahs...
Where I chat about award nominations, a quiet month for new releases, ThunderBoom's proper cover and listings begin, what's coming, what's not, and more free comics.
A quiet January in terms of news, not work, but still a few things to chat about this month. No new appearances to bring up yet. I was planning to exhibit at the Orleans Comic Book & Novelty Show on February 26th (11-5 pm) but a conflict popped up for that Sunday and I’m unable to make it. I do plan to be at the next one later this year but please do check this one out at the Orleans Mall as it’s a great show with free admission.
Pal Steven Legge will be there, with his art and available for commissions. And speaking of Steve…I’m proud to be pals with him and fellow creator-in-crime Dominic Bercier as the two of them were nominated in various categories for the 2022 Sequential Magazine Awards. Check out the listing of nominees and please do vote for your faves. Other friends nominated include Mark Shainblum, David Dewsbury, Dan Day, Andrew Thomas, The Becka, Fred Kennedy, and Troy Little.
A light month for releases
Nothing new out this past month from me…but I will add a pic of the interiors of Horror Comics #18 from Antarctic Press. I mentioned last newsletter that it was releasing the week I posted my newsletter. Since then, I’ve picked up the book so here’s a peek from it…
ThunderBoom’s proper logo and the listings begin
I haven’t been showing the final cover to ThunderBoom. The logo went through a few iterations and the one the publisher went with lost both the exclamation point to the title and the all-caps on BOOM.

I like both actually but which do you prefer? Not that it will change anything, but I’m just curious.
The promoting has begun for the book. Spring previews for book releases have started, meaning ThunderBoom has landed on some of those lists, notably Publisher’s Weekly and Quill & Quire, which is pretty cool for a book nerd like me. Check out the listings of the book as well as all the other great books coming out in the spring.
International Angelman Day is February 15th, a day that raises awareness around Angelman’s Syndrome, so expect to see some promotion in social media around the book on that day. Logan, the lead of the book, has AS (like my son) and my hope is the book raises awareness and is relatable to those with AS or even those who don’t have AS but are non-verbal. More info on the book here.
More to come…
I should have some new previews and releases to show in the next newsletter. My audio dramedy might be out for release by that time, as well as pre-orders for the first Antarctic Press issue of Dominion Jack (in Exciting Comics). I should have some new art to show around Asteroid Adrift as well. But that’s next time. So, here’s the next free comics instalment of…
Boo Bear & Flo: The Dust-Shaped World - Pages 18-19-20
The action amps up…by yours truly & Agnes Garbowska…
Until next time!
