No more...colouring books?
Where I talk about the release of the colour edition of Growing Up Enchanted Book 2 and conclude the first chapter of Muse's Motel
Another quick newsletter this time around as summer approaches, wanting to highlight the release of the special edition of Growing Up Enchanted Book 2.
Growing Up Enchanted Book 2 Special Edition out now!
Not a lot of black and white comics anymore. Not to the extent that existed back in the 80s when I was a teen consuming as many comics as I could. And later when it came to creating my own comics, my first published books were in black and white as well. Like Dragonforce. Aircel was a huge local black and white comic book company. Until it wasn’t. When Alex Serra and I decided to do Growing Up Enchanted, we were fine with it being published in black and white. It’s what we knew, what we saw, where we came from. We didn’t think it needed to be in colour. Until we started selling the black and white comics and collections at shows.
“Oh, this looks lovely.”
“Thank you.”
“My granddaughter will absolutely love this!”
*flipping through the book*
“Great to hear—”
“—She can colour it and everything!”
“W-wha-what?”
Yeah, that was a common heart-wrenching conversation. With the release of Growing Up Enchanted Book 2 in colour, no more of that conversation and no more colouring books! Kids books need to be in colour is our lesson learned there. :)
So… Growing Up Enchanted Book 2 Special Edition was released yesterday on June 12th. Go get yourself a copy that you can read, but unfortunately, can no longer colour.
Muse’s Motel: Pages 23 - 28
And we end this newsletter with the conclusion of the first chapter of Muse’s Motel. Would love to hear any feedback on this story…
Until next time…
