Welcome, everyone, and thank you for joining my email newsletter! I needed a spot where I could update interested folks about the various writing projects I’m working on, talk about them, the writing process, and give insights, show previews or even post free comics from my archive. I didn’t want to post them on my main website, jackbriglio.com, because I wanted to keep that as a spot where people could see a running history of the books I’ve published with links to my shop or shops to buy them, without any other clutter. And social media spots…well…that’s filled with so much as it is, that I thought these sort of posts would get lost there. I do post some content there of course but it’s hard to find afterward so I thought an email newsletter was the best and most direct way to go. I’m going to try to do this monthly, that’s my goal, no more than that unless there’s a good reason, so I hope you enjoy these little missives. Thank you for subscribing!
I have lots of projects on the go at the moment. In future newsletters, I’ll talk about all of them, including projects that I’m currently working on for Kids Can Press, Source Point Press, Lev Gleason, and Markosia. But this newsletter’s goal is appropriately enough about a story called Goal.
This story is one I worked on with Italian artist pal Alessandro Micelli and fellow Ottawan, Steven Legge. It’s about soccer and about one teen’s drive to play soccer, in a world unlike our own, and just score one more goal. Is it really a world that unlike our own? Read the first couple of pages below and decide for yourself. It’s part of RAID studio’s fourth anthology collection, Klaatu - a 128 page collection filled with similarly awesome stories I’m proud to be part of. With only three days left in the Kickstarter campaign, if you haven’t already checked it out, please do: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/theraidstudio/raid4?ref=735ppg
Written shortly after the Italian soccer team won the 2021 Euros, you’re reading this preview shortly after the Italians were eliminated from qualifying for the 2022 World Cup…and the Canadian team qualified!!! I never thought I’d see this day…36 years later…so happy for Team Canada. Forza Canada! :)
That’s it for today. Hope you enjoyed the two-page preview of this story and I’ll be back again soon with more news and chatter. Thanks again!

Looking forward to getting my issue. And wow, it is rather mind-blowing that Italy didn't qualify.
