A new year is upon us…and looking forward to what it will bring! And hopefully, it will be an improvement on 2024!!! At least on the writing side of things…
2024 was a less busy year for me writing. Busy on many other fronts…family, my own and extended, as well as many web projects I delivered at the day job. I still managed to do some comic shows to continue to promote ThunderBoom and my other books, especially the newer ones this year like Asteroid Adrift and Back-Up, both from Markosia and Marcello Bondi. Also, working again with Marcello Bondi, developed a Dominion Jack universe related project called Il Partigiano. It will be a modern-day version of the character that first appeared in a wartime flashback in my second Dominion Jack story from the True Patriot days, recently reprinted in the run of Exciting Comics (36-40) from Antarctic Press. A number of short stories have already been completed (as you saw last newsletter) with several others in development. So, in total, I wrote or edited 214 scripted pages over the year, comprising of Dominion Jack, Il Partigiano, and a new graphic novella from Marcello called Invasion. This doesn’t include any pitches for new material I did. Several were sent…and I continue to wait for positive responses and will continue to send more in 2025. Wish me luck!
My Brady Bunch image of 2024 showcases the Il Partigiano logos as well as a model sheet of the character by Daniele Cellini. It also includes the two releases this past year from Markosia, as mentioned previously - Asteroid Adrift and Back-Up. The last image at the bottom is a logo that was designed by Steven Legge for my Friday night curling team’s jersey. We’re called the One-Eyed Jacks and I had Steve replace me with Dominion Jack, side-by-side with my teammates. We’re 1-2 with the new jersey…hoping for a string of wins to continue after we won last Friday!
Muse’s Motel: Pages 16-19
Continuing chapter 1 of Muse’s Motel, with the help of Dominic Bercier, Hugh Rookwood and Steven Legge. Including pages 14-15 to remind everyone where we were at last time. Things get considerably stranger as our narrators continue to chat about comics creation and storytelling amidst our poor editor’s triptych. Enjoy…
Some news on the Muse’s Motel front. Dominic and I plan to submit to the Canadian Council of the Arts for some funding to complete this project. Worth a shot so let’s see where that goes.
Until next time…
