The Holidays Are Coming...
Where I chat about the end of 2022, holiday gift ideas, this month's latest releases from me, more preview art, and free comics, continuing the adventures of Boo Bear & Flo.
I can’t believe it’s December! Where has 2022 gone? I spent the year pushing all my current projects forward, translating/editing a whole bunch, and trying to get some new pitches & projects approved to the scripting stage. The latter is still a work in progress but otherwise, lots accomplished so I can’t complain.
Need any ideas for holiday gifts this year? Well, comics and graphic novels are always a nice gift. You can find my complete list of works on my website, jackbriglio.com, and I also have an online store, shop.jackbriglio.com, of my own personal stock of my books, for those that can’t make any of the shows or events I go to. My wife keeps reminding me that I need to add books from my broader personal comic collection on there to sell as well…and I will, one day!
Out This Month!
A number of new books on the shelves from me this past month. All on the editing and translating side of things…
Samurais in New York
Always nice to go to your local comic store to see your own books on the shelves. Even nicer to go to New York City for a family trip, head over to Midtown Comics, and find your own books on the shelves there! I did translation edits for a new 4 issue mini-series from Antarctic Press called Samurai 2.0. By Marcello Bondi and Mauro Gulma, this is a samurai epic with a twist - in a world where all art is outlawed, a graffiti artist samurai fights for the freedom of creativity in his realm. More info here.
Writer’s Block Unblocked
I mentioned this was coming last newsletter - Writer’s Block by Marcello Bondi and Claudio Mastronardi. I edited this meta crime mystery for Markosia and it’s out now. More info here and in the image below.
A Planet of Horror…
More translation work for Antarctic Press anthologies, Horror Comics and Planet Comics, as issue 17 and issue 11 came out this month, respectively. Details can be found here.
Pre-order ThunderBoom!
First mentioned this last newsletter, but reminding everyone again that ThunderBoom! is available for preorder. Here are some pre-order links with more details about this middle grade adventure by me and Claudia Davila from Kids Can Press: Amazon, Indigo, Barnes & Noble and Book Shop.
A Muse’s Motel Preview…
Here’s the latest preview art for Muse’s Motel, a horror fantasy series we’re doing for Source Point Press. I included a page that Dominic Bercier penciled and inked and one that was inked by Hugh Rookwood. Both are from issue 2 as it jumps from real world and dream world scenes. Issue 1 is done, colours and letters are in progress for issue 2, and the roughs for issues 3 and 4 are complete. Coming along nicely!
And a Dominion Jack Preview…
With Dominion Jack returning to print at Antarctic Press, Hugh, Steven Legge and I have been working on tweaking the digital versions of the pages to make them even better for print. Really loving the enhancements and wanted to share a couple of pages from the first chapter of the arc I did with Hugh, The Heroic Us.
Boo Bear & Flo: The Dust-Shaped World - Pages 14-15-16
Ending the newsletter once again with free comics fun from me and Agnes Garbowska…you’ll never look at paper clips the same way again. :)
That’s it for this month. Hope everyone has a happy holiday season and a merry Xmas!!! All the best to one and all…and thank you for all of your support!
